ENSEMBLES

Marching Band

The award-winning Royse City Band is the largest student organization at Royse City High School with more than 250 students in grades 9-12. It includes students who march winds, brass and percussion instruments, front ensemble, color guard and production crew. The marching band performs each fall at UIL and other area marching contests, during the halftime show at varsity football games, and the annual Royse City Lighted Christmas Parade. Marching band season kicks off with summer band mid-July through August and continues throughout the fall football and marching contest seasons.

Wind Symphony

Conducted by Jason Webb, the Wind Symphony is considered the most advanced performing ensemble during concert season and performs the finest wind literature. Students in this ensemble must demonstrate the highest level of musical maturity, technical proficiency, and commitment to rehearsal and practice time. Wind Symphony students must seriously pursue individual goals on their instrument as well as working diligently toward ensemble goals. Members of this ensemble are required to participate in All-Region auditions, Solo & Ensemble, and the UIL Concert and Sight Reading contest.

Wind Ensemble

Conducted by Tim King, the Wind Ensemble is an advanced ensemble that performs challenging, high-level music literature during concert season. Students in this ensemble must demonstrate a high level of musical maturity, technical proficiency, and commitment to rehearsal and practice time. Wind Ensemble students participate in All-Region auditions, Solo & Ensemble, and the UIL Concert and Sight Reading contest.

Symphonic Band

Conducted by Taylor Cole, the Symphonic Band is an upper level intermediate ensemble that performs quality music literature of a higher difficulty level during concert season. Members of this group continue to develop and refine technical ability, musicianship, and demonstrate a commitment to rehearsal and practice time. Symphonic Band students participate in All-Region auditions, Solo & Ensemble, and the UIL Concert and Sight Reading contest.

Concert Band

Conducted by Jason Webb, the Concert Band is an intermediate ensemble that performs quality music literature during concert season. Members of this group continue to develop and refine technical ability, musicianship, and demonstrate a commitment to rehearsal and practice time.

Percussion

Led by Connor Pickle and Jordan Ferguson, the Percussion program includes more than 30 student percussionists and provides the heartbeat for the Royse City Band. RCHS Percussionists perform as part of the Drumline or Front Ensemble during marching band season and in one of the Wind Band ensembles during concert season. In addition, independent Percussion ensembles perform annually at the RCISD Night of Percussion and other competitions throughout the year including All-Region auditions, UIL Concert and Sight Reading contest, and the annual Royse City Percussion Solo Contest. The Drumline supports RCISD through performances at pep rallies, celebrations, and other school and community events.

Guard

Led by Terry Hurley, the RCHS Guard program includes Color Guard during marching band season and Winter Guard during the Spring semester. As a vital members of the Royse City Band, the Color Guard adds color, vibrance, and beauty to marching shows for all halftime performances and competitions throughout the fall. After marching season concludes, students in the Guard program perform competitively as part of the Winter Guard at local NCTA and WGI events throughout the Spring.
